Mucopolysaccharides in beef retina and small cerebral vessels

چکیده
On Ecteola columns in 0.05M HCl (pH 1.3) the sulfate groups of mucopolysaccharides are. dissociated while the carboxyl groups are not. In 0.05M acetate buffer (pH 4.8), the carboxyl groups are dissociated and those mucopolysaccharides which do not bind, to Ecteola at the loioer pH can be resolved. These properties have been utilized, to resolve mixtures of beef retina and small beef cerebral blood vessel mucopolysaccharides in order to further characterize and partially identify those mucopolysaccharides which are associated with the nervous elements and those which are associated ivith the blood vessels. These studies reveal that the retina contains a complex mixture of mucopolysaccharides while the small cerebral vessels contain a more clearly defined mixture.

Retinal microvasculature in Alzheimer's disease.
Although cerebral small vessel disease has been implicated in the development of Alzheimer's disease (AD), the cerebral microcirculation is difficult to visualize directly in vivo. As the retina and the brain share similar embryological origin, anatomical features and physiological properties with the cerebral small vessels, the retinal vessels thus offer a unique and easily accessible "window"...

The mechanisms underlying cerebral vasodilatation during hypercapnia are not fully understood. To examine the role of nerves and prostaglandins in the regulation of basal blood flow and in hypercapnia-induced vasodilatation in the cerebral blood vessels of rabbit.Cerebral blood flow was measured by laser Doppler flow-meter in 18 NZW rabbits anesthetized with sodium pentobarbital. Tetrodetoxin ...

Background: The mechanisms underlying cerebral hypercapnic vasodilatation are not fully understood. Objective: To investigate the role of nitric oxide (NO) and ATP-sensitive potassium (KATP) channels in basal blood flow regulation and hypercapnia-induced vasodilatation in rabbit cerebral blood vessels. Methods: The change in cerebral blood flow was measured by a laser Doppler flowmeter in 18 Ne...

Purpose: The circle of willis is responsible for blood supply of brain, which may suffer from anatomical variations. These disturbances can lead to aneurysm or even arterial rupture. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the anatomical structure of the cerebral arteries forming the circle of willis in adult cadavers. Also, cerebral versus non- cerebral versus non-cerebral arterial walls wer...

Encephalomalacia is softening or loss of brain tissue following cerebral infarction; cerebral ischemia infection, craniocerebral trauma or other injuries. Cholangiocarcinomas are malignant neoplasms of biliary epithelium, which usually arise from the intrahepatic ducts. A budgerigar was presented with a history of ataxia, decreased activity, neck weakness and weight loss. Supportive care was at...
